INTEGRATED BUSINESS
PLANNING BASED
ON SOLID DATA QUALITY

One of Purple Square’s long-term customers who designs and manufactures Professional Lighting Solutions went live worldwide with a solution for integrated business planning.

CUSTOMER CHALLENGES

The new SCM application is defined on different and more granular data structures compared to the legacy systems. Master data quality in the source ERP systems required extensive synchronization and clean-up efforts.

Due to a phased rollout – instead of one big bang implementation – the transitional IT architecture showed considerable complexity with many temporary solutions and interfaces. Additional challenge to adoption of these temporary ways of working and the end state solution was to perform user acceptance tests on different locations worldwide.

OUR CONTRIBUTION TO SUCCESS

  • Purple Square participated as program manager of this program. Using predefined templates allowed for more standardization of business processes and accelerated the design and build phase.
  • Due to a phased rollout of a Minimal Viable Product, an Agile approach enabled strong focus across IT and business operations during all implementation phases.
  • Standardized and centralized system integration and user adoption test scripts enabled rapid feedback loops between the central project team and the local end-user teams.

In the future the focus will be on stabilizing the templates used and further enriching Inventory Optimization and Demand Planning. In addition, the planning platform will be expanded with Demand Sensing, Promotion Planning, SIOP and the Response & Supply planning process. By digitizing the planning processes, the customer builds a performance management tool across the entire supply chain.

DELIVERABLES

Nearly 100 planners in more than 40 countries worldwide now use a single set of supply and demand data for finished goods deployment.

Automated statistical forecasting and real-time insights drive improvements in forecast accuracy, giving planners more time to focus on continuous improvements to the planning process. This improves the collaboration between marketing, sales, operations and finance.
